BoxingScene contacted promoter German Titov to know more about the fight between WBA #11 Russian heavyweight Denis Bakhtov (33-5, 22 KOs) and IBF #6, WBO #8 and WBA #9 Ukrainian Alexander Dimitrenko (29-1, 19 KOs) for the vacant European (EBU) title.
“The fight is set and done. We shall arrange it with the help of my partner Kirill Pchelnikov in our Ural citadel of Yekaterinburg. Fight date is July 30, which is exactly one day before EBU-recommended deadline”, said Titov.
“The place is most probably DIVS (local palace of sports); the time is 7 PM LT”, continued Titov. “Contrary to some reports, we have no problems staging this fight or this show. As for me, I’m not totally sure I’ll be at the venue. If everything goes smoothly I’ll fly overseas to attend Dmitry Pirog’s challenge for a vacant WBO title against Daniel Jacobs”.
At least, two more notables will be presented in the undercard. Both WBO #12 featherweight Andrey Isaev (22-2, 7 KOs) and ex-IBA lightweight titleholder Rustam Nugaev (20-5-1, 12 KOs) will be featured in non-title eight-rounders against second-tier opposition.
