Promoters Lou DiBella and Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions have advised BoxingScene.com that IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey (43-7, 37KOs) injured his back in training and he was forced to withdraw from next Saturday's fight with Devon Alexander (23-1, 13KOs), taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

"He hurt his lower back and hopefully he won't be out for very long. He felt it last night. He had hoped that it would resolve itself when he woke up this morning. He went to specialist this morning and he was told that he couldn't have any activity for about a week. He should be able to get back into the gym in a week or two. He's going to see the doctor again in a day or so. This is not projected to be any type of a long-term injury," DiBella told BoxingScene.com.

The Showtime televised event will still go forward as a special edition of ShoBox, with the WBC junior welterweight eliminator between Lucas Matthysse (31-2, 29KOs) and Ajose Olusegun (30-0, 14KOs) being pushed up to the main event position. One or two fights from the undercard will get elevated to the televised portion of the show. Undefeated middleweight prospect J'Leon Love (12-0, 7KOs) will likely get some television time. He faces once-beaten Ramon Valenzuela Jr. (7-1, 1KOs).

As for Bailey-Alexander, Schaefer is looking at two potential Showtime dates. The fight will either land on the big October 20th event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn or the October 27th show at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California - which features WBC super bantamweight champion Abner Mares defending his title in a dangerous fight against Anselmo Moreno.

If the fight lands on October 20, Showtime will transform the card into a quadrupleheader - with WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia facing Erik Morales, WBO middleweight champion Hassan N'dam N'Jikam facing Peter Quillin and WBA welterweight king Paulie Malignaggi taking on Pablo Cesar Cano.

And same goes for the event with Mares-Moreno, which is scheduled to be a tripleheader. The addition of Bailey-Alexander would make it a quadrupleheader.

"Whatever date we put it on, it would become a quadrupleheader. I was talking with Showtime about [October 20th] and I think that if we ended up putting it on there - four world championship fights - it would be one of the biggest cards that I could remember," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.
