After being away from the ring for several years, and then returning on Saturday in Germany to get stopped by heavyweight contender Brian Minto, German boxing hero Axel Schulz (32-5, 11KOs) announced his retirement afterwars - this time for good.

Schulz always seemed to get the short end of the stick. he was able to secure three shots at a world title, and lost all of them. The most famous was a very questionable decision loss to George Foreman in 1995, almost every observer felt Schulz won the fight. He also lost to Michael Moorer and was stopped by Wladimir Klitschko in 1999.

He was very distraught after the bout, announcing before a German television audience of millions that he was not good enough to become a top heavyweight fighter. He was more sorry for the German fans, than himself.

"I feel sorry for the fans," a frustrated Schulz said. "This is the end (of my career). It is over. I just was not good enough."
