Prospects Manuel “Tino” Avila and Guy Robb will fight in separate bouts on Fox Sports 1/Fox Deportes in the Aug. 22 edition of “Golden Boy Live,” promoter Don Chargin informed BoxingScene.com on Friday.

The card will take place at the Allan Witt Sports Center in Avila’s hometown of Fairfield, California, which is located an hour’s drive northeast of San Francisco. Both fighters’ opponents are to be determined.

Avila (15-0, 6 KOs), is coming off a second-round stoppage of David De La Mora in May that also aired on Fox Sports 1/Fox Deportes. Robb (13-1, 5 KOs), an exciting featherweight from Sacramento, California, outpointed Daniel Ramirez in April.

“Tino’s really coming along,” said Chargin, a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame. “I just signed Guy Robb and we plan on building him up the same way.”

The card is the latest collaboration between Chargin and Golden Boy; earlier in the day, the latter announced it had added the former to its team on a more formal basis.

“The first few years, I was really active with Golden Boy,” Chargin said. “They would ask me what I thought about certain matches, but now Oscar wants me to take more of an active role.

“I’ve become very close with Eric Gomez when he started, and he’s turned into a good matchmaker when he gets the chance. Roberto Diaz has done a great job when called upon, too.”

However, Chargin will continue to spearhead his own promotion and stable of fighters that includes the resurgent Mercito Gesta, middleweight up-and-comer Paul Mendez and junior welterweight Jonathan Chicas, who fought valiantly in a razor-sharp split decision loss last week.

“I had one condition on joining Oscar’s team and it was that it wouldn’t interfere with me running my own company,” Chargin said. “Oscar said he wants to be able to get my input on things. Whether it’s matchmaking, the business aspect or anything else, when I’m asked, I will be involved.”
