BoxingScene.com has been advised that junior featherweight prospects Manuel “Tino” Avila and Ricky Lopez will meet at the Georgie Duke Center in Vacaville, Calif., on Dec. 1 in a bout that will air on TeleFutura. Rising welterweight Alan Sanchez will appear against an opponent to be determined in the other televised fight. Both bouts will be eight-rounders.
The 20-year-old Avila (10-0, 3 KOs), a native of Fairfield, Calif., who trains at the Georgie Duke Center and fought out of the Vacaville PAL as an amateur, will be fighting for the fifth time in 2012 and is coming off a unanimous decision win in his first eight-rounder against John Alberto Molina.
Lopez (9-1, 4 KOs), a 25-year-old who fights out of Oxnard, Calif., has won back-to-back bouts this year over Martin Quezada and David Green via stoppage after losing a majority decision to Derrick Wilson in 2010.
Sanchez (11-2-1, 5 KOs), a 21-year-old from Fairfield, Calif., who burst on the national scene with a shocking first-round technical knockout of Artemio Reyes in April, is riding a seven-bout unbeaten streak. In his last outing, he knocked out Manuel Leyva in the 10th round.
The card will be promoted by Don Chargin and Golden Boy in association with Paco Presents and Jorge Marron Productions.
