Ava Knight hoped to catch lightning in a bottle, seeking her second straight big win in Toluca. Alas, it was not meant to be for the former flyweight champ, who came up short on the road against Mexico's Ibeth Zamora in their 108 lb. title fight Saturday evening.

Zamora dictated the pace early on, as both fought a tentative first round before the defending champ opened up the attack in the second. Knight was never badly hurt at any point, but was being outfought for much of the first half of the contest.

The bout became far more competitive over the final five rounds. However, there was little doubt or suspense as to who would be announced the winner. Zamora was just that good on this particular.

Picking up a career-defining win, Zamora also extends her win streak to four straight as she greatly improves to 13-1 (5KO).

An eight-fight unbeaten streak comes to an end as she falls to 12-2-3 (5KO).
