Austin Trout (28-2, 15 (KOs) is currently looking for a new opponent following the withdrawal of Anthony Mundine from their scheduled clash in Hidalgo, Texas this Saturday. Nevertheless, the former WBA junior middleweight champion offered his opinions to BoxingScene.com on forthcoming fights for two of his previous opponents.

Also Saturday in Texas but on a Golden Boy promotion in Houston, Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez boxes in a potentially explosive fight against James Kirkland. Trout dropped a decision to the Mexican while he has worked with Kirkland's new trainer.

"I think it'll be a good fight for a while," said Trout.

"Kirkland will bring it even if his chin is a bit suspect. He's working with Rick Morones who is a really good, positive coach. Kirkland is going to have a great game plan. He can punch. If he can take Canelo's shots he can definitely win this fight, without a doubt."

Miguel Cotto, who was defeated by Trout in December 2012 has an interesting encounter scheduled for June 6 against Australian, Daniel Geale. Austin isn't convinced that Cotto's destruction of Sergio Martínez is a true reflection of the Puerto Rican's punching at 160lbs.

"I think Geale can win. Cotto's not really a middleweight, Daniel Geale is. We'll just have to see if Cotto's power will transfer. We saw him demolish Martínez but it's a little bit tainted because of how beat up Martínez was going into the fight. He had one arm and one leg!"
