Former super welterweight champion Austin "No Doubt" Trout provided expert analysis last Saturday for Julian Williams unanimous decision victory over Ishe Smith at The Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight headlined a PBC on Bounce TV telecast.
Trout was impressed with both fighters' performances and thought that Smith had done enough to pull off the upset.
"It was a good fight. Julian Williams is a hell of a fighter. Ishe Smith, I don't know about you guys but he looked better than I seen him look in years," Trout told BoxingScene.com.
"On my card I actually had Ishe up. There were some rounds that could of went either way. He was kind of doing the Sugar Ray Leonard, steal the rounds with a flurry type deal. It was a good fight and I am happy to be in this division that is stacked with guys like that."
The 32-year-old Trout and Williams went back and forth on social media in the past with Williams calling out Trout but a fight between the two never materialized.
When asked if he would now be interested in a fight with Williams, Trout didn't hesitate - as he wants to bounce back strong after a recent run of defeats to the very best in his division.
"I would love to fight Julian Williams. I am really still championship minded. I need my belt back. We have came so close two times in a row. The thing that bothers me the most about those losses is that I don't believe those fighters are better than me. Not to say I was robbed. They won and I give that to them but you haven't seen the best of Austin Trout," said Trout in reference to his back-to-back losses to Jermall Charlo and Jarrett Hurd.
