Tommy McCarthy has been ruled out of his next fight.
The Belfast cruiserweight was set to box in a British title final eliminator with Matty Askin next weekend, exclusively live on VIP TV.
But the clash has been postponed due to a minor shoulder injury sustained by McCarthy, who won a unanimous decision over Jon-Lewis Dickinson in his last fight to move a step closer to a challenge for the Lonsdale belt.
The two were due to face off on BoxNation-screened VIP Promotions show in Bolton on October 22 for the right to face Welshman Craig Kennedy for the belt recently relinquished by Ovill McKenzie.
However, McCarthy’s injury has seen the bout pushed back a month, to Saturday, November 19, at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on another VIP Promotions show.
Askin is still scheduled to fight on October 22, live on BoxNation, at the Bolton Whites Hotel, as part of a bill which also features ex-IBF bantamweight world champion Paul Butler and former WBO European super-middleweight titlist Jamie Cox, who were added to the bill after their fights on the same night at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff fell apart following the postponement of the Frank Warren-promoted show.
