According to the Philippine Star, Manny Pacquiao made $20-25 million for the twelve round beating of Antonio Margarito on November 13 at Cowboys Stadium in Texas. Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, confirmed the figure to the paper.
“It could be between $20 million to $25 million, but at least $20 million,” Arum said.
The paper broke it down to $2 million a round, $694,000 a minute or $11,574 per second, or even $52,742 for each of the 474 punches he landed on Margarito. Pacquiao was guaranteed at least $15 million for the fight, but the amount went up with the high pay-per-view success of the show. HBO announced a pay-per-view buyrate of 1.15 million and revenue of $64 million.
“There are bigger and better things to come,” said Arum. “These pay-per-view numbers only show the incredible popularity of Manny Pacquiao in the United States and outside the United States."
