BoxingScene.com's Steve Kim recently wrote an article on the promotional status of Brandon Rios (33-3-1, 24KOs) who told him that he was a free agent as of Sunday.  The former champion has been training for a comeback and appears to be in excellent shape.

Rios last fought in November when he was stopped by Tim Bradley at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. He announced his retirement after the fight, but the quickly changed his mind on the matter. He parted ways with longtime trainer Robert Garcia and now trains out of the Ten Goose Boxing Gym.

When asked about the status of Rios, who Top Rank has promoted for his entire career, Bob Arum said that his legal team is looking into the matter.

"I don't know. That may be true. That may not be true. The lawyers are looking at the contract. They will have a statement to make. I have absolutely no idea whether it's true or not," said Arum who didn't have much to comment.

"If he is out of the contract, fine. That happens. The lawyers are looking at the contract now," Arum told BoxingScene.com.
