When promoter Bob Arum first announced Manny Pacquiao would defend his welterweight world title against "Sugar" Shane Mosley on May 7 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the match was met with quite a bit of resistance.

Industry experts complained Mosley did not look good in his past two fights - a one-sided loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and a draw with Sergio Mora - and at 39 was not deserving of a fight with a superstar like Pacquiao.

Arum believes Mosley tends to struggle with defensive fighters like Mayweather, or Mora, but he does well against aggressive fighters like Antonio Margarito.

"Styles make fights," he said. "He (Mosley) will struggle against fighters who play defense and run around the ring. He does better against fighters who like to fight, like he did against Antonio Margarito."
