So called Super Typhoon Megi may be a real blowhard but it is having no effect on Manny Pacquiao's media Day at his Baguio training camp today (Monday), according to promoter Bob Arum.

In this case, then it seems Megi, a Category 5 storm packing winds of up to 150 mph, won't disturb “Pacific Storm” Pacquiao or “Tijuana Tornado” Antonio Margarito.

“We're getting rain, not much wind but rain but we have about 25 or so Filipino media people who came up to Baguio Sunday. The Media Day is going ahead just as planned.”

Arum said Pacman will do no sparring in front of the media. Pacquiao worked nine rounds on Saturday, a session Arum labeled “satisfactory” and which trainer Freddie Roach said was OK.

Arum said he huddled at length with Coach Roach and conditioning guru Alex Ariza bout Manny's progress and the remaining schedule in the run-up to the Nov. 13 bout against Margarito at Cowboys Stadium.

“I think, based on talking to the guys, that there is a lot of work to be done but that is good because if they were way ahead of the training schedule, it would mean that Manny is peaking too soon. We'd sooner have Manny right on schedule and he can finish up strong when they relocate to Los Angeles.”

Arum said his head matchmaker Bruce Trampler watched Margarito spar “12 strong rounds” in Oxnard on Saturday.

“Bruce reported to me that Antonio looked very strong and very fit,” Arum said.

Arum landed in Manila on Saturday and flew north to Baguio on Pacman pal and powerful politician Chavit Singson's private plane along with his stepdaughter, Dena, Manny's wife Jinkee, her sister and her mother.

On Sunday, Arum said, they enjoyed a sort of hootenanny featuring the vocals and guitar playing of Pacman.

“Yeah, it was a lot of fun, Manny and his band did a rehearsal for us. Manny was singing, he did 'La Bamba' and he did some love songs. Jinkee was there and we did some dancing. Everyone was in good spirits.”

Arum said that Team Pacquiao will depart from Baguio on Wednesday and relocate training chores to Manila for Thursday and Friday of this week. Pacquiao and his contingent will then fly to LA on Saturday, arriving Saturday and then will take Sunday off.

Arum has business meetings in Manila Wednesday and Thursday and will then fly back to his home in Las Vegas.

“Manny will be at Freddie's gym, the Wild Card, to train on Monday and we have a Media Day there on Wednesday,” Arum said.

Typhoons, super or otherwise, are cordially not invited.
