Since Bernard Hopkins has an issue with Manny Pacquiao's selection of opponents, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum plans to send him a list of possible African American candidates for Pacquiao's next fight - and Hopkins can provide his "seal of approval." Hopkins made some recents comments, which caused widespread controversy, regarding Pacquiao not facing an African American fighter with a slick boxing style.
According to Hopkins, an African American boxer with a slick style of fighting will cause a lot of problems for Pacquiao.
"That's why Floyd Mayweather would beat Manny Pacquiao because the styles that African-American fighters -- and I mean, black fighters from the streets or the inner cities -- would be successful," Hopkins said.
Arum has three opponents in mind for Pacquiao's next fight, and all three of them are African American boxers with a slick style of fighting. The veteran promoter will provide Hopkins with a list, and he can select his choice for Pacquiao's next foe. The list will include Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs), former three division champion Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KOs) and WBC welterweight king Andre Berto (26-0, 20 KOs).
"I'm going to send him a list with Mayweather, Mosley and Berto and see what he thinks," joked Arum. "I want to get Bernard's seal of approval as to which, if any, of them qualifies as a 'slick,' black fighter."
