Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says he has been discussing an offer for Z “The Dream” Gorres rematch against  WBO super flyweight champion Fernando Montiel in Macau on December 13.

Arum told insidesports.ph on Thursday that Montiel had agreed on the terms and requested us to have the handlers of Gorres, the father-and-son duo of Tony and Michael Aldeguer, get in touch with Arum so they could finalize details.

But with Gorres under the promotional arm of Golden Boy, the Aldeguers said they would first have to seek the opinion of Golden Boy Promotions vice president and international matchmaker Eric Gomez before talking to Arum.

We learned from Arum himself that Gomez had told him there were plans to put the stylish southpaw Gorres on the Paul Malignaggi-Ricky Hatton undercard on November 22, possibly against No. 3 ranked Jose Lopez of Puerto Rico .

Arum claimed that the Gorres fight on the Malignaggi-Hatton  card won’t be on pay-per-view and that Gomez had asked for a proposal so that he would get approval from Gorres’ handlers “to do the fight.”

Ever since he lost a hugely controversial split decision to Montiel in the “Moment of Truth” fight  card in Cebu City in February last year, Gorres has been aching for a rematch.

His handlers believe that Montiel, after one more title defense, would move up to bantamweight leaving the title vacant which would give Gorres an almost certain crack at the vacant crown since he is ranked No. 2 in the latest WBO ratings behind Thailand’s  39 year old Pramuansak Posuwan.

Gorres  is also aching to get a rematch at IBF super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan who drew with Gorres in a rough and dirty IBF title eliminator in Cebu earlier this year. Darchinyan got the title shot  against Dimitri Kirilov because  he was one notch higher in the rankings. Darchinyan crushed Kirilov in five rounds to win the title.
