Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has denied a published report that he offered Kelly Pavlik an undercard spot on a May 7 pay-per-view in Las Vegas, which features Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley in the main event. Pavlik is leaving the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calififornia after after spending two months getting treatment for alcohol abuse. Arum is not going to place any pressure Pavlik to return to the ring. He wants him to get healthy first. Arum says no dates have been discussed or offered.
“I don’t know where that came from,” Arum said to The Youngstown Vindicator. “I’m not going to put any pressure on [Pavlik]. If he’s ready to go on that date, and that’s what he wants, we’ll support him 100 percent. I’m elated that he’s coming out, and I just hope that everything sticks this time."
