There are reports surfacing out of the UK that a bout between super middleweights Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is very close to a deal to take place in Las Vegas on March 28th. But Bob Arum, the chairman of Top Rank, which is embroiled in a lawsuit with Chavez Jr. over his promotional contract, says otherwise.

"No, it's not true," Arum told BoxingScene.com on Monday morning. "It's just not true because Eddie Hearn (who promotes Froch) would not cross us and he doesn't want to be involved in litigation. We've talked to him frequent times. We'd be happy to make that match but Chavez has got to sit down and talk to us."

Chavez signed with adviser Al Haymon recently and is attempting to break free from Top Rank which has promoted him throughout his professional career. Hearn met with Haymon in Las Vegas to discuss several fights. Top Rank believes it is owed one more fight with Chavez Jr.

When asked if they were any closer to a resolution, Arum answered:

"No, we haven't heard anything for weeks, now. We just want our one fight. We're happy to do that fight."

And then walk away from each others lives.

"Right, that's what the contract says."
