Polish heavyweight contender Artur Szpilka (17-1, 12KOs), coming off the biggest win of his career with a unanimous decision win over Tomasz Adamek, is being positioned to return to action on April 14th, in Chicago, as part of a card likely to land on Showtime.
Initially, the plan was to have a doubleheader with Andrzej Fonfara, but that was changed when Fonfara signed to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on April 18th.
Szpilka has made a lot of changes. He signed on with powerful manager Al Haymon and also hired American coach Ronnie Shields of Texas to train him. Szpilka could be on a fast track to a world title shot, because Haymon also manages newly crowned World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
