The clash for the vacant EBU jr welterweight title between Giuseppe Lauri and Denis Shafikov has now been moved to June 18 with Varese remaining as site. This is an OPI 2000 promotion.
Former WBA interim-cruiserweight champ Firat Arslan is determined to continue his career and has now accepted a nomination as co-challenger for the vacant EU title. In the other corner is Frenchman Faycal Ibnel Arrami.
Former EBU welterweight champ Jackson Osei Bonsu will, as previously reported, move up to jr. middle and his debut in the new weight division have been set for June 13 in Deinze. Jackson fights on the undercard to a show headlined by featherweight Jean Pierre Bauwens.
Another former EBU welter king - Michel Trabant - continued his comeback last Thursday but weighed in at middleweight and didn´t impress in stopping another veteran in Riccardo Grassmann. Still, the now 33-year old Trabant, a pro since 95, will continue to plug away in the only trade he knows and have several fights lined up during the fall.
While the Danny Williams vs Zoltan Petranyi fight set for June 4 in Gyor is cancelled, the show promoted by the very same Zoltan Petranyi and his ProfiBox Promotion outfit is still on. At middleweight Zoltan Kalocsai and Norbert Szekeres, who drew last time out, clash again for the vacant Hungarian title. Cruiserweight Laszlo Hubert co-headlines against an opponent to be announced.
IBO Youth supermiddle titleholder Gevorg Katchikian takes on Farouk Daku June 4 in Kerkrade, the Netherlands. This is very close to the German border and Aachen and promoter Mario Guedes takes part of his stable at P4P Promotion across the border with female star Jesica Balogun featured in the co-feature.
The problems between "Golden" Jack Culcay and Universum looks very strange in view of that SES announced on March 22 in a press release that they had taken over the promotional contract for Culcay. SES and Universum have collaborated for a number of years but there was no mentioning in the presser that Universum still had ties to Culcay.
