FAJARDO, PUERTO RICO- For the second time in his career former olympian McWilliams Arroyo will headline in his hometown when he faces Shawn Nichol in the 4th edition of the series “A Puño Limpio” to be held at the Tomas Dones Coliseum in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, this Friday, July 1st, in a PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) to be televised on WAPA America.
Arroyo (8-1, 7 KOs), a 2009 Amateur World Champion, will fight Nichol (5-5, 5 KOs) in a Flyweight 8 rounds bout. Also in TV fights, unbeaten Heavyweight Carlos Negron (12-0, 10 KOs), and prospect Camilo Pérez (3-0, 3 KOs).
“We have the prospect McWilliams Arroyo fighting in his hometown headlining this show. Another eight fights complete this card, the fourth of the series A Puño Limpio”, promoter Ivan Rivera said.
Arroyo, who fought in Fajardo on April 17, 2010, when he beat Francisco Rosario by TKO, said that “it’s an honor to fight again in my hometown with the support of my people”.
Meanwhile, Negron will fight a six round bout versus Reggie Peña (6-7, 1 KO) and Perez will face Eduardo Meléndez (4-8, 1 KO) in a four round superbantamweight fight.
The preliminars present Alberto Mercado (3-0, 1 KO) against Regino Canales (2-1) in a 130 pounds six rounds bout; Carlos García (6-9-1, 6 KOs) against Carlos Ramos (3-1, 3 KOs) in a 154 pounds six rounder.
Four rounds fights will get Hipólito Rivera (1-3, 1 KO) versus Israel Suárez (3-3-1) at 126 pounds; Israel Vázquez (2-0-2, 2 KOs) versus Jean Carlos Molina (0-1) at 108 libras; Rafael González (1-0, 1 KO) versus José Morales (0-1) at 135 pounds, and debutants Alexander Vellón versus Álex Vázquez.
