LOS ANGELES --- Chris Arreola doesn't take anything away from Bermane Stiverne and his victory over him in April 2013.
Stiverne knocked Arreola down and broke his nose en route to a 12-round unanimous decision in their first fight. They meet in a rematch on Saturday at USC's Galen Center on ESPN.
"The thing about it is there is no such thing as a lucky punch," Arreola said of the punch that broke his nose at Tuesday's open workout. "It wasn't a lucky punch. He created that punch. That punch was all him. I got to give him credit for that. You know, but this time it's not going to be the same."
Arreola said he did learn something about Stiverne from their first fight.
"If I have a man hurt, I'm going to take him out and put him out of misery, man," Arreola said. "He should have done that. He doesn't have the killer instinct. I do, trust me. Once I see him hurt I'll take his ass out. I don't get paid overtime. Whatever it is they are paying me a flat rate.
"I'm ready to show the world what a heavyweight boxer is all about. Not pitter pattering ... I'm about destruction. You know, every punch I want to hurt him with. Of course, everything has to be smart. Smart behind the jab. It will come."
Arreola said there's no bad blood with Stiverne. He just wants to avenge this loss and make history.
"Honestly, I have no hostility for Stiverne," Arreola said. "I don't hate the guy. I have no ill will for him except for when I get in the ring. I wanna tear him a new one. That's me. That's just the way I am. That's what boxing is and I love boxing for that. I love boxing because you can get in the ring and two guys, who don't even know each other, beat the crap out of each other and after that they shake hands like nothing happened. That's what I love about boxing. Boxing is a gentleman's sport."
