I find it disappointing that the title may change hands this weekend and there will be no television audience in this country. Valuev may lack the skills to compete with Ruiz but he certainly has the power to make life miserable for the champ.

Unlike many I have no problem watching Ruiz lock up fighters in the ring, boring for the fight fan but a win is a win. To me it is just as boring watching Byrd flitter around the ring against substandard opposition.

To John’s credit lets review the last two years  or so,  Roy Jones Jr., Hasim Rahman, Fres Oquendo, Andrew Golota, James Toney, and now Valuev. Got to give some props to a guy that takes risks and has the luck of the Irish.

If we reviewed the other so called champions their record of fights recently don't stack up as well. Boring style matchups follow the Ruiz camp but you have to admit its only boring around the champ when he is in the ring.

This fight deserves a world of witnesses because winning a fight from the judges in Germany against a European is dang near impossible.

Jamie Clampett is recovering well from surgery and should be back in training in a few months. We wish her and Teddy a great holiday season and hope the new year brings
bigger and better things to them both.

It will be interesting to see the return of Pac-Man to the ring without the dissertations of
contract disputes and other problems but I wonder who gets the blame this time if the
explosive fighter fails to come away with the win against Morales.

New York fight fans should pencil in Vincent Arroyo as a must see when deciding watch ticket to buy in the new year. This fighter is another great prospect fighting in the northeast. Only  problem with Arroyo is that his opponents can't seem to last long enough to challenge him much.

It's good to see boxing back both in the Bronx and in Queens. The history of both boroughs is ingrained in the annuals of Boxing forever and fight fans should make it part of their holiday wishes to pray for success to both the promoters bringing back the sport.

Next week we will bring you a couple of interviews featuring the past and the future of boxing. Howie Albert will join me to discuss his new book and give us a look into the best of boxing past and Taylor cutman Ray Rodgers will tell of the renewed interest in amateur boxing in the state of Arkansas with the success of Jermaine and other pros from the Natural State.

Food for thought;  Has anyone made the connection yet between Don King stumping for George Bush and the Republicans killing the Boxing Commission bill or is it my imagination working overtime. Seemed a little strange that King got involved at all then a Republican sponsored bill gets squashed by its own party.

Well, seasons greetings and Merry Christ-mas to all who celebrate the birth of my lord and savior. To those that do not, may your holiday be as blessed and celebratory as mine will be.
