The monotony of mis-matched Filipino boxers being mauled in Thailand and Japan has been broken by the stunning victory of Jun Arlos over world rated South Korean minimum weight Jae-won Kim last Tuesday night in Gyungju City. Korea.

Arlos stopped Kim who is ranked No. 7 minimum weight by the World Boxing Association at 1:27 of the seventh round in a scheduled ten round bout. Kim lost a unanimous decision to Japan’s Yutaka Niida in a WBA minimum weight title fight last April 16 in Tokyo. Niida defeated the Philippines Eriberto “Yukka” Gejon in a controversial decision tenth round technical decision last September 25.

Arlos who is ranked No. 12 by the Games and Amusements Board in the light flyweight division improved his record to 33-17-4 with 14 knockouts while Kim dropped to 19-3-2 with 6 KO’s.

Arlos was coming off a close twelve round loss to Thailand’s Petchtapee Pinsinchai in an Asian Boxing Council light flyweight title fight last August 31 with all three judges scoring the fight for the Thai 115-113.
