Former four division world champion Jorge Arce (64-7-2, 49KOs) is confident that he will make history on September 20th in Los Mochis, when he challenges Jhonny Gonzalez (56-8, 47KOs) for the WBC featherweight title. If the TV agreement gets finalized, it would make Mexican history as the first fight to be simultaneously televised by both TV Azteca and Televisa.
"I knew that there were breakthroughs on Tuesday. There were discussions with the promoters of Jhonny, who arranged his salary and we will fight in the CUM, a beautiful stadium where we will accommodate ten thousand as I search for my sixth crown. I'll have the opportunity to make history either way, because whether I win or lose it will be the first time that two [rival] television networks transmit same fight in Mexico and that's something historic," Arce said.
"Finally my dream becomes a reality, to fight for a sixth world title with an excellent fighter such as Jhonny Gonzalez. He is a born puncher but he's also susceptible to taking punishment. We have seen how he's been knocked out and how he's been knocking down. Opponents have knocked him out with punches to the face, but he is a fighter who is very strong - and I must win to make history and I will do it."
