Mexican former champion Jorge "Mischievous" Arce (56-6, 43KOs) said that he was losing his motivation and considering retirement before the opportunity came up to challenger Puerto Rican Wilfredo "Papito" Vazquez, Jr. (20-0-1, 17KOs) for the super bantamweight title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO). The battle will happen on the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley undercard on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Arce returned to training after surgery to correct a minor shoulder tear.
"I will take care of Papito, catch his mistakes and get a knockout. I should confess that up until this fight, I had lost motivation and my mind was dwelling on retirement. But I began to see that there fighters older than me. I have the skill and I'm still willing to have wars, so I do not see why I shouldn't continue fighting for one more title. Then came the offer with Vazquez and now I feel very motivated," Arce said. "To be able to win him I will have to be at thousand percent therefore by the type of billboard I am obliged to light up", indicated Maple. "To win, I'll need to be at 1000% since this is the type of card that I'm obliged to light up."
