Junior welterweight contender Antonio Orozco will face Abner Lopez on July 30, Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz confirmed in an email to BoxingScene.com .
The 10 round bout will take place at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. Also fighting on the card will be Joseph Diaz, Jr. in a 10 round bout.
Both bouts will be broadcast that night on HBO Latino.
An official announcement will be made later Wednesday at a press conference at the offices of Golden Boy Promotions in Los Angeles.
Orozco (24-0, 16 KOs) is coming off a first round knockout win over former lightweight world titleholder Miguel Acosta on March 25.
The San Diego, Calif. resident scored the biggest win of his pro career in his previous fight on October 3, winning a 10 round unanimous decision over former world titleholder Humberto Soto.
Orozco, who is managed by Frank Espinoza, is ranked in the top 10 of all sanctioning bodies. He is the mandatory challenger for the WBC belt.
Lopez (23-5, 19 KOs) was stopped in his last bout on November 14, an eighth round knockout loss to Daniel Echeverria. The loss snapped a four-bout win streak for the Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico resident.
