Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero showed no ring rust after being out of the ring for 11 months as he disposed of Edel Ruiz (29-21-5, 18KOs) in the very first round. Guerrero who now improves to 23-1-1, with 16KOs, landed a vicious body shot that left Ruiz on the canvas for several minutes after he was counted out.

In an eight round Junior Middleweight bout Tijuana’s Saul Roman (30-5, 20KOs) took on Los Angelino Jose Varela (23-5, 16KOs). Both men had their moments but it was Roman’s come forward style that made the difference and he landed jabs and hard right hands on Varela to improve his record to 30-5, 20KOs with a unanimous decision victory.

Adrien Broner (6-0, 5KOs) and Los Mochis’ Jose Lugo (10-6-1, 5KOs) treated fans to an exciting fight. Broner fought in spurts most of the night putting his fast hands and crisp combinations on display but also opted to play keep away. Broner managed to land some hard shots on Lugo who even though he seemed on the verge of going down, continued to fight on and take the Cincinnati natives best shot. After 6 rounds Broner was forced to settle for a unanimous decision with scores of 59-55, 58-56, and 60-54.

In a Junior Lightweight attraction, Corpus Christi native Jerry Belmontes (6-0, 1KO)defeated Jesus Hernandez (2-4, 2KOs) over 4 rounds to remain undefeated. Belmontes controlled the first 3 round with a jab while also landing single flush shots but in the 4th and final round, Hernandez pressed the action as both fighters engaged in some hard exchanges. Belmontes received the unanimous decision with scores of 39-37 twice and 40-36.

And in the first fight of the night, undefeated Juan Carlos Salgado (19-0-1, 13KOs) made his lightweight debut as he took on Los Mochis journeyman Christian Favela (15-17-6, 9KOs). Salgado controlled the fight with straight rights and uppercuts that stunned Favela as he recorded his 19th victory with a unanimous decision.
