WBO welterweight champion is hoping that WBC counterpart Carlos Baldomir pulls off the upset when he meets Floyd Mayweather, Jr. on November 4, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. Margarito told the
LA Daily News
that Mayweather has never fought a real welterweight, giving Baldomir a 50/50 chance to win. He thinks if Baldomir wins, he will have a better chance of securing a bout with him.

"I hope Baldomir wins because I know Mayweather doesn't want to fight me," said Margarito. I think Mayweather hasn't fought a real welterweight yet and if he is not careful, he could lose the fight. Baldomir has just as much of a chance to win as Mayweather."

Margarito is still at odds over Mayweather turning down an $8 million dollar offer to face him.

"When you hear something like that, it is hard to believe," Margarito said. "I'm sure he is not going to make that much money fighting Baldomir. So the only conclusion I can come to is that he is afraid of me."

Mayweather's former promoter, and current promoter of Margarito, Bob Arum,  said that by turning down a bout with Margarito, the "Pretty Boy" should not be considered the number one fighter at welterweight.

"Mr. Pound-for-Pound ran like hell even though he was offered $8 million, so he can't be the No. 1 fighter in the division."
