Antonio "The Tijuana Tornado" Margarito (38-8, 27KOs), 37-years-old, is still waiting to receive solid information regarding his ring return. Margarito has been inactive since losing by way of stoppage to Miguel Cotto in December 2011.
Margarito says his right eye is fully healed and the area was fully examined by a top specialist in Utah.
Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has been in talks with Margarito regarding a return. Arum told BoxingScene.com last week that the Mexican veteran is demanding too much money for a tuneup fight.
Arum had planned to put Margarito on an UniMas show in December, but the two sides were unable to agree on the money.
"We still have no date, or opponent. There are some proposals, but there is nothing concrete. I was under the pretense of fighting before the end of the year and I had been offered a fight on December 12, but we did not reach an agreement. The opportunity to reach an agreement is still possible, but if I do not fight that day then my return will not happen until next year. I will continue in the gym, waiting for the confirmation of a date," Margarito told ESPN Deportes.
"Since I announced my return, I spoke with Bob Arum, because my intention is to finish my career with Top Rank, but we have not yet reached an agreement. If that is not achieved, I will touch other doors."
