At the Don Haskins Convention Center in El Paso, Texas, a super bantamweight war of wills saw Antonio Escalante (23-2, 14KOs) win a ten round unanimous decision over Miguel Roman (28-7, 20KOs). The scores were 97-92, 96-93 and 96-93 for Escalante.
The fight was a war of wills. The tempo switched back and forth for the first four rounds. In the fifth, Escalante used his legs to move and counter with big punches to the head and body. In the sixth, Escalante continued to pound away with big shots. Roman was moving forward and moving forward, taking Escalante to war. In the eight, Escalante put his punches together to send Roman down to the mat in the final thirty seconds. When Roman beat the count, they traded bombs until the round ended.
In the ninth, Roman continued to come forward and come foward with power punches. Esclante was fighting back but he seemed to get tired and was starting to break down from the pressure of Roman. At the start of the tenth, Escalante came out swinging for the fences by throwing a lot punches to buckle Roman. They traded shots and more shots until the bell rang and the entire crowd stood up to applaud them.
