100% cheerfully recovered, former World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight world champion Antonio "Tony" DeMarco returns to boxing this Saturday by facing Yucatecan Luis "Muecas" Solís at Tecate Municipal Gymnasium in Baja California, with TV Azteca - Casa del Boxeo - broadcasting the card throughout Mexico.
In the stellar ci-feature over ten rounds, three-time flyweight world champion (WBC, WBA, IBF) Arely "Machine Gun" Muciño resumes her search of a fourth flyweight belt under the WBO.
DeMarco, a fighter who was born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa and now resides in Tijuana, is ready to make some noise at the super lightweight division.
The DeMarco (31-6-1, 23 KOs) vs. Solis (20-7-4, 17 KOs) will be fought over the ten round distance.
The left-handed boxer will be coming back from a 13-month break that he voluntarily took to address some family issues that are fortunately solved.
In December of 2015 in Texas, he put in a very competitive effort against against another former world champion, Omar Figueroa Jr., but ultimately lost a unanimous decision.
DeMarco has made his preparation in Tijuana and returned with his original team headed by Don Romulo Quirarte and his sons Bobby and Roberto.
DeMarco has fought some of the best at lightweight and super lightweight - like the late Edwin Valero, Jorge Linares, John Molina Jr., Adrien Broner, Jessie Vargas and Omar Figueroa Jr. In 2017 he aims to land a world title shot at junior welterweight.
"I feel very motivated with a great positive charge to return, the passion for boxing is overflowing. I have done an excellent preparation with a lot of sparring. I respect my opponent. I'm coming with everything on Saturday. The idea is to leave a pleasant impression on the fans and Zanfer," said DeMarco.
Ticket are available at the Tecate municipal gym ticket offices. Zanfer plans to have ten fights on the card.
