WBC-interim lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco has gone through a career-turning year in 2009. He is now set to fight the full WBC champion Edwin Valero on February 6 in Mexico. Valero is one of the most dangerous punchers in the sport. All 26 of his 26 wins have come by knockout. Most of the knockouts have come in the first round.

"2009 has been a great year, thanks to God. I expect a better 2010. It's been great but it's thanks to great work that we've done in the gym and we'll keep working," DeMarco told BoxingScene.com's Ernest Gabion.

DeMarco is not worried about Valero's power. He sees some flaws that he can take advantage of. He plans to put on a show for the Mexican fans and upset Valero for the title. DeMarco is confident Valero will be his career-defining opponent.

"No [I'm not worried about his power]. It's just a matter of being well prepared. He is just another human being and I can take advantage of some points," DeMarco said.

"This is the fight that I've been looking for all my life. This the fight that I've been waiting for and I will be successful. He's a great fighter and a solid champion but I'm going to take it to the next level."
