Antonio DeMarco (28-3-1, 21KOs), the former lightweight world champion of World Boxing Council (WBC), is preparing to return after eight months of inactivity. The boxer has parted ways with promoter Gary Shaw, he has new goals and leaves the loss to Adrien Broner behind him. DeMarco is preparing under the orders of his trainer Romulo Quirarte and he will probably fight in no more than a month, which is something that motivates him despite having no opponent or venue. DeMarco plans to explore his options at the junior welterweight division.
"Even though I have no rival, I can probably come back in a month or maybe three weeks. I've been training, I feel great physically. I feel strong strong, I'm doing work with a physical trainer and doing things I haven't done before. I feel very good. I can hardly make 135 pounds, so I will probably go up to 140 pounds and don't be surprised if you see me at 147-pounds. The divisions there are hot and there are high level fighters, but if you want to be the best you have to fight the best and I like challenges," DeMarco said.
"I'm calm and motivated, promoters are looking to offer me work. Offers have come in from Golden Boy, Top Rank, Zanfer, and other promoters in Mexico and the United States. I'm looking out for my career and I want to make the most out of it."
