It appears that a fight is in the works to match former champion Anthony Mundine (32-3, 23Kos) and fellow Australian Shannan Taylor (45-6, 31KOs). The fight would mark Mundine's debut in the middleweight division. Mundine recently vacated his WBA "regular" super middleweight title to avoid a rematch with Mikkel Kessler. He plans to target bouts at middleweight with champion Kelly Pavlik and former champ Winky Wright.

The fight is being discussed to take place in Australia at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in late July or early August. Taylor is currently set to face journeyman Andreas Seran (8-5, 6KOs) on June 6 at the Gold Coast. Taylor has faced a lot of good fighters, but he always comes up short in every major fight.

Right now the only thing stopping the fight from being a done deal is the money. The offer to Taylor gives him $100,000 plus $80,000 more from ticket sales. Taylor feels the offer is too low and wants at least $250,000 to take the fight.

"The figure is a joke. I want at least $250,000," said Taylor to Fox Sports Australia. "I wouldn't take what they are offering to fight his agent Khoder Nasser, let alone Choc. If they get serious with the money then it's game on."
