Anthony Mundine wants revenge on Garth Wood for December's fifth round knockout loss. Mundine claims that he wasn't mentally prepared and underestimated his inexperienced opponent. Mundine is planning to return by the summer and wants Wood as the first fight back.
"For me, and for anyone that knows me, it's easy to work out what I want to do. I can't let no one get away with that. I've had a good break and we're just trying to look at what is next, whether we can work something out with the rematch or whether we can't ... my management takes part of that sort of stuff, but I know what I want," Mundine said to AAP.
Mundine, who was once the super middleweight champion, is planning to return to junior middleweight. Before making the move back down to 154-pounds, he wants to clear up his unfinished business with Wood at middleweight.
"If it was a fairytale, I'd love to get that fight back (with Wood) and get that win back and then move on my merry way. I know I can beat any fighter in the world as long as my mind is mentally focused and ready. I don't think there's a fighter out there who can beat me. The last fight was a prime example of that - physically I was ready, but mentally I wasn't."
