Making his debut at junior middleweight, former super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine won a unanimous twelve round decision over Argentinian Carlos Jerez to win the WBA international light middleweight at the Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The scores were 120-109, 118-110 and 118-110.
Jerez was overmatch and outgunned in the contest. Mundine was too long and too strong. He battered Jerez in several rounds, but to his credit the Argentinian was able to survive until the final bell by always staying on the move. Mundine raises his record to 39-3, 23KOs, and Jerez falls to 30-12.
