According to sources in the UK, Anthony Joshua's next opponent could very well be 40-year old Ukrainian veteran Yarolsav Zavorotniy (16-7, 14 KOs). The fight is penciled to take place on April 4 in Newcastle.
Red-Hot 2012 London super heavyweight gold medalist Joshua (10-0, 10 KOs), rated #8 by the WBC, #12 by the WBO and #15 by both the WBA and the IBF, was set to fight Kevin Johnson on January 31, but was forced to withdraw in a mid-January due to a mild injury. Johnson fight is preliminarily set for April 25, while the Ukrainian is considered to be just a warm-up.
Zavorotniy's biggest victories came against 24-5 Don Diego Poeder and 10-0-1 Maxim Maslov. He also fought and lost to such notables as Nikolay Valuev, Kubrat Pulev, Alexander Dimitrenko and, most recently, David Price.
