As previously reported by BoxingScene.com, there is a possibility that Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce will face rising unbeaten prospect Daniel Dubois. The fight has been ordered for the British heavyweight title.
Joyce recently signed a co-promotional deal with Frank Warren, who also guides the career of Dubois.
Both of the undefeated fighters have pegged IBF, WBO, IBO, WBA world champion Anthony Joshua as a future target.
Joshua likes the idea of a clash between Joyce and Dubois.
Joshua seems to give his amateur stablemate, Joyce, the edge in the contest - especially if it goes late.
“Joyce can out-work Dubois if Dubois doesn’t stop him early," Joshua told Boxing Social. "If it is an early fight I go with Dubois, because he is a puncher.
“I think it will be a late round stoppage or a win on points, because Joyce is really fit. They have different styles. Dubois hasn’t got the engine and Joyce hasn’t got the power. Joyce is more experienced though. He’s basically an Olympic champion.”
Dubois showed off his moves last weekend, when he knocked out Richard Lartey with a fourth round knockout at Wembley Arena - and Joyce was sitting at ringside to scout the fight.
Joyce is open to the idea of the fight, but he also believes that Dubois has a lot more to gain if they face each other. Joyce, due to his advanced age of 33, is hoping to secure big fights and wants to collide with the biggest names possible within the next twelve months.
"He got a little bit troubled by Lartey at some points, but he took him out of there," Joyce said.
"It's an option (fighting Dubois). I've got a fight in Stevenage on May 18. That's a good warm-up, then I should be out again in July. Potentially, I'm going to speak to Frank (Warren) and my managers and we'll see what's out there."
