Anthony Fowler has already been given an opponent ahead of his next fight.
The Commonwealth Games gold medal winner, 26, will step up to the six-round distance on September 30.
Fowler has made a solid start to his campaign in the paid code under trainer Dave Coldwell, winning both of his early outings by stoppage.
And as he prepares for his first fight in his home city at the ECHO Arena, having already performed in Newcastle and Sheffield, ‘The Machine’ has a named foe early into preparations.
He will come up against Jay Byrne (5-2, 1 KO), of Dublin, Ireland, on the card which is topped by Paul Butler’s Matchroom debut as he takes on Stuart Hall in a rematch, with the added carrot of an eliminator for the WBA bantamweight title currently held by Jamie McDonnell.
Byrne lost back-to-back outings to Eddie Hearn-promoted pair Felix Cash and Olympian Josh Kelly earlier this year but came back with a victory at the National Stadium in May.
Fowler’s clash with Byrne looks set to be a TV feature on the ‘Battle On The Mersey’ card, promoted by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Sport, which will be exclusively live on Sky Sports.
Elsewhere on the card, Natasha Jonas has her second paid outing in her home city and will be joined by Craig Glover and another Commonwealth Games gold medal winner in the shape of Scott Fitzgerald.
Rocky Fielding and David Brophy meet in a battle for the British and Commonwealth titles at super-middleweight, Tom Farrell defends his WBA International super-lightweight crown against former Derry Mathews conqueror Ohara Davies and Sean Dodd defends his WBC International and Commonwealth lightweight titles in a mouthwatering all-Merseyside showdown against Thomas Stalker.
