Former WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell recently sat down with BoxingScene.com and revealed his thoughts about the upcoming showdown with Callum Smith for the vacant WBC belt, Saturday's heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko, and more.

“There is no date for the fight right now [with Smith]. But hopefully wit ill be held on June. That’s we are looking for. The deal is almost done. I am waiting just like everybody else. All I know it is going to be in Michigan,” Dirrell told BoxingScene.com.

Dirrell is baffled, because he doesn’t know how people view Smith as the favorite - “it is what it is. I like being the underdog and I will get that belt back.”

According to Dirrell, Smith has never really fought with anybody. Dirrell is very eager to recapture the title he lost to Badou Jack, and in turn secure the opportunity to be voice of his hometown of Michigan. Michigan has water problem. The local drinking water has become toxic and the Michigan residents still use bottled water for their needs.

Dirrell is cancer survivor just like his friend close Daniel Jacobs. Dirrell believes Jacobs was the winner of last month's fight against middleweight king Gennady Golovkin. He watched the bout from ringside and he says Golovkin was tired in later rounds, because prior to the contest he had never gone the twelve round distance.

As for the weekend, Dirrell is backing Klitschko to win - “He is stronger and smarter in the ring. He will get his titles back and retire after that."
