Another Filipino boxer, Jack Asis, has been knocked out in a bout against IBF Pan Pacific featherweight champion Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym a few days after Jun Verano was also knocked out in his Pan Asia Boxing Association super flyweight title fight against Thai champion Komrit Lukkuongmuekol.
Fahprakorb started aggressively and hammered Asis with a series of combinations to the body and head, quickly wearing down the Filipino challenger. In the fourth round the Thai champion picked up the tempo and connected with a number of telling blows that had Asis in deep trouble. Fahprakorb continued to batter Asis at the start of round five forcing referee Samphan Saengakart to step In and stop the massacre.
The 29 year old Fahprakorb improved his record to 44-3 with 35 knockouts while Asis dropped to 10-3. Fahprakorb was the IBF No. 1 junior featherweight when he suffered a devastating first round KO against then champion Manny Pacquiao on October 26, 2002. Fahprakorb looked impressive against Asis who was staggering in the neutral corner when the referee called a halt.
Manila Standard learned that the matchmaker who got Asis the fight in Thailand was Alijoe Jaro who was recently suspended by the Games and Amusements Board for six months for being the matchmaker in the farcical comeback fight of former WBC flyweight champion Gerry Penalosa who scored a second round KO against Samingkao Chutipol last September 19 when the Thai went down without being hit.
