Angel Garcia is angry with the media, who the trainer believes unfairly criticized his son, WBA/WBC 140-pound champion Danny Garcia, following his close points win earlier this year over Mauricio Herrera.
Because of those criticisms from the press, Angel issued a warning that Garcia's next opponent, heavy underdog Rod Salka (19-3, 3KOs), is going to take a lot of punishment. Garcia-Salka will headline a Showtime televised tripleheader on August 9th from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
"I watched the Herrera fight just to get the doubt about it out of my head, but that's just from the media. They made it seem like Herrera destroyed Danny, but I didn't see it like that," Angel said.
"What happens when you get all this negativity in the media about a performance, the next person you're going to fight feels the consequences. Salka is in a predicament right now. He's in the wrong place at the wrong time."
