Brooklyn, New York - The always colorful trainer, Angel Garcia, was his usual self at the recent Premier Boxing Champions open workouts in Brooklyn. His son, Danny Garcia, squares off against Brooklyn’s Paulie Malignaggi on the second installment of PBC on ESPN at the Barclays Center.

“It doesn’t matter. What I’m supposed to be scared?” Garcia said as he did a pseudo shaking in his pants motion. “It doesn’t intimidate me. I seen death eye to eye, I fought cancer, I seen guys die in front of me. It doesn’t matter? What is he known for? Exactly. That’s going to bite you in the ass with that guy. With or without their guy, I think Paulie gets dropped in the 1st and we stop him in the 4th round.”

The Garcia’s posted a video where Danny Garcia was chasing a rooster around, much like Rocky Balboa did in the movies. While it was meant to be a joke. The trainer feels Malignaggi will move but when it comes down to it - his son will catch him

“Paulie going to try and run,” Garcia explained. “He’s been doing it for 13-15 years. I remember Paulie when he was fighting as a young fighter. Paulie been boxing all his life pity patting and running around. He can run all he wants but we got something for that when Danny starts landing. They think jabbing and running around is the blue print to beating Danny but we got him boxing more.”

The trainer shares the same sentiment as his son; not moving up to 147 was hurting the fighter.

“The weight was taking a toll. He would be in a bad mood right now. He’s happier. He’s eating more and eating right. 147 was Danny’s original weight. Danny’s a natural weight. You’re going to see Danny at his best 147.”
