BoxingScene.com has been advised by promoter Lou DiBella that negotiations are taking place to match middleweights Andy Lee (26-1, 19KOs) and Brian Vera (18-5, 11KOs) for a date in October. Lee suffered his only career blemish to Vera in March of 2008. Vera, who went down in the first, came back to stop Lee in the seventh. Since the loss, Lee won eleven in a row. Vera had a few career bumps but in February he accomplished another upset with a split decision over former champion Sergio Mora. Lee's manager, Emanuel Steward, has made a request to DiBella to get a rematch done.
"I agree with Emanuel, I think the fans want to see a rematch. There are ongoing talks and it may happen in October. The first fight was exciting and I believe the rematch could be even better," DiBella told BoxingScene.com.
