Unbeaten middleweight prospect Andy Lee (14-0, 11KOs) has arrived in Limerick for his upcoming bout with Alejandro Gustavo Falliga (14-3-2, 4KOs) at the UL Sports Arena on February 2. The bout marks Limerick's first pro-boxing event.
Lee is said to be finishing up his training for the fight with former champion Joey Gamache. Speaking with Limerick Leader, Lee is looking forward to headlining the hometown show.
"It is a beautiful arena - I remember fighting there before in the amateurs, but that was only a ring at one end in one of the soccer pitches and one piece of elevated seating - I don't know what it is going to look like this time," Lee said.
Falliga's record does not appear to threatening, but Lee is not banking on a walkover fight. He's preparing himself for a tough fight.
"Technically he is not the best, but he is very strong and spirited - he is young and hungry. This is his big chance to come and upset me. He has a conventional style and he has dropped a lot of opponents with a big right hand. There are no easy fights in pro-boxing. I will not be just turning up and walking through him," Lee said.
