A crossroads fight at the light heavyweight limit is in play for January 14th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The fight would match Andrzej Fonfara (28-4, 16 KOs) against former WBC world champion Chad Dawson (34-4, 19 KOs).

Dawson's career has been up and down since 2012. After winning a twelve round decision over Bernard Hopkins in April of 2012, he moved down to super middleweight and was knocked out by Andre Ward a five months later.

Dawson then moved back to light heavyweight, but was knocked out in one round by Adonis Stevenson. He came back a year later to pick up a quick win, but then suffered a shock decision loss to Tommy Karpency four months later.

He snapped a one year layoff by beating Dion Savage last December and then fought in April when he knocked out Cornelius White in four rounds.

Fonfara is returning from one of the biggest shockers of the year. He was on the verge of landing a world title rematch against Stevenson. Instead, a stay-busy fight turned disastrous when he was knocked out in one round by huge underdog Joe Smith Jr.

The January card is headlined by a super middleweight unification between Badou Jack and James DeGale, and a Showtime televised co-featured which has Jose Pedraza defending his IBF super featherweight title against Gervonta Davis.
