Andrew Selby (4-0, 3 KOs), the younger brother of IBF featherweight titlist Lee, will fight for the vacant British flyweight title in his fifth fight. The BBBoC has confirmed that Selby will meet Louis Norman (11-1-1, 2 early) for the vacant belt on May 14.
The bout will take place on the undercard of Lee Haskins’s IBF World bantamweight title defence against Ivan Morales, brother of Erik, at the Ice Arena, Cardiff, handing Selby home advantage going into the biggest fight of his professional career thus far.
The 27-year-old turned pro with a fourth-round KO over Haji Juma Juma in October. His latest fight takes place under the auspices of Barry McGuigan’s Clones Cyclone promotions. Blain McGuigan and Chris Sanigar, Selby’s vastly experienced trainer, will co-promote the show.
Norman lost to Charlie Edwards in his last title challenge (L 10 for the English belt in September), but he won his last one via a four-round decision win over Craig Derbyshire.
However, the 22-year-old is viewed by many as the perfect foil for Selby’s first major title challenge so Selby will be expected to ease past his Leicestershire-based opponent to add more silverware to the Selby trophy cabinet.
