Andrew Selby has had his next fight confirmed.
The Welshman’s promotional outfit, Cyclone Promotions, confirmed on Friday that the undefeated 28-year-old will return to the ring next month as he continues his chase to a world title.
Selby will box in a final eliminator for the WBC flyweight crown, currently held by Daigo Higa, on October 7 at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London.
The fight, against Mexico’s Maximino Flores (23-3-1, 16 KOs), will be screened exclusively live on Channel 5, with the supporting cast shown on Spike TV.
‘AC Superstar’, 9-0 (5 KOs), was last in action back in May when he fought Cristofer Rosales in an official eliminator for the aforementioned WBC belt.
In his embryonic career in the paid ranks to date, Selby has picked up the British, IBF Inter-Continental and WBC International belts in the 112-pound division.
And he comes up against Flores who has boxed three times already this year and was most recently in the ring in August.
The visitor comes in to the fight on the back of a stoppage victory.
On the undercard, there is action for Chantelle Cameron –– who will be looking to make it three wins from three –– in her first eight-round contest, while Asinia Byfield will defend his Southern Area light-heavyweight title against Max Wicks and Robin Dupre and Luke Watkins meet in a clash for the vacant Commonwealth cruiserweight title.
Joshua Ejakpovi, Ibrahim Mercan and Gelasius Taaru complete the card on which super-middleweight Terry Russell makes his professional debut.
