Andrew Selby has been handed a date for his next professional outing.

The former Team GB amateur star (2-0, 2 KOs) has made a storming start to his ledger in the paid code, with a four-round stoppage of Haji Juma in Newport on his debut before ending the challenge of previously undefeated Jozsef Ajtai inside two rounds on November 14.

Selby, from Barry, is one of Great Britain’s most decorated boxers in the headguard and vest and he will compete for a third time in the pro code, in a scheduled eight-round clash, on December 5 at Westcroft Leisure Centre in Carshalton on the undercard of Lenny Daws’ challenge for the vacant European super lightweight title against Ruben Nieto of Madrid, Spain.

He’ll come up against former world title challenger Everth Briceno (35-14-2, 26 KOs), from Nicaragua.

The 37-year-old lost an unanimous decision to Omar Narvaez back in 2010 for the vacant WBO super flyweight title and has since fought Kal Yafai for the IBF Inter-Continental super flyweight title, which he lost on points in Dublin last November.

Briceno has fought four times since, losing each fight on points.

If Andrew is anything like his brother, IBF featherweight champion Lee, Selby will be a joy to behold and will go far in the game.

Elsewhere on the card, Hughie Fury (17-0, 9 KOs) will feature after his showcase in Germany, which was set for the undercard of his cousin Tyson’s world heavyweight title win against Wladimir Klitschko at Düsseldorf’s ESPRIT Arena on November 28, fell through at the final hour.
