Undefeated Australian Super Flyweight Andrew Moloney will get his long-awaited crack at the world 115-pound title, as he faces New York-based, Guyanan Elton Dharry at Melbourne's Margaret Court Arena on November 15, live on ESPN+.
Moloney, a native of Australia's beautiful Gold Coast, has looked flawless in his first 20 professional contests, winning them all with 13 coming inside the scheduled distance. Nicknamed, 'The Monster', the former Commonwealth and WBA Oceania Champion now sets his sights on capturing world gold and Moloney opened up on his path to the top leading to his clash with Dharry, a man who hasn't tasted defeat for close to a decade.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist stated, "It has been a fantastic rise from winning Gold in the Commonwealth Games back in 2014 all the way to fighting for the world title. I have to thank my manager Tony Tolj, my brother Jason who has always been side by side with me and our training team headed up by Angelo Hyder for getting me moving in the direction that I am now in.
"It's been an incredible journey up until this point, from stopping a great fighter in Luis Concepcion to going to Chile to knock out Miguel Gonzalez and everything that came before that, it has been an amazing experience and has prepared me for the task that lies ahead on November 15. I have also got to massively thank my promoter Top Rank, Don Majeski who has helped the team so much in the USA, ESPN who will broadcast the event and Green Machine Promotions here in Australia."
The now Brooklyn, New York-based Elton Dharry has not tasted defeat in over a decade and is arguably one of the most avoided little big men in boxing today. Moloney discussed his thoughts going into the clash with Dharry at Melbourne's Margaret Court Arena,
He said, "Nobody wants to fight Dharry, he is a tough strong fighter that comes to win. It's going to be a fantastic fight for the fans to see and I know everybody watching on ESPN+ or in person at the Marget Court Arena in Melbourne will see two come forward fighters put everything on the line. That is what fight fans want to see when they pay their hard-earned money for subscriptions and tickets so I have always attempted to give fans value for money in all of my fights.
"It's going to be a great night of boxing and I can't wait to emerge as world champion after it. It's going to be a hard fight and my focus is solely on Dharry, but I know if I win then the doors will open to big fights all over the world and I can't miss out on those opportunities."
Moloney's long term manager comes in the form of Dragon Fire Boxing chief Tony Tolj, a manager largely responsible for the success of legendary Featherweight Chris John. Tolj weighed in on Moloney's clash with Dharry on November 15.
The Perth native said, "I want to thank Top Rank, Don Majeski, ESPN for getting Andrew this amazing opportunity alongside Green Machine Promotions who have been a great help in facilitating this fantastic fight.
"I believe this fight has fight of the year written all over it. It's two top-quality 115-pound fighters who both have the ambition of showing that they are the elite in the Super Flyweight division, and fight fans tuning in all over the world are in for a treat. I believe that Andrew will emerge victoriously in explosive style and this is a fight and an event that is unmissable to any boxing fan."
